Hello all,
my name is Peter, I am from Germany. We will spend one week (May 16. – 22) of our holidays at Lake W. (Weirs Beach). Now I have seen, that there is still ice on the Lake.
Also the temperature is still very low. I have seen on the waether-historie that the weather-conditions are very different. I can imagin that you do not have a cristal-ball ;-) but which kind of weather can we expect mid of May?

Winnipesaukee weather is typical of our six small New England states: The weather will be cool. Misty and foggy mornings -- but not as drizzly as Germany.
Sometimes hot. We've already had one day of 80°F sunny weather -- in April!
It's like May at der Nürburgring -- where I've spent several weeks at various BMW Fahrschule events -- Nordschlief and Formula One tracks. But fewer rainy/drizzly days, here.
The water will be cold (for us), but not so bad for you. (You guys swim in the Rhine -- in sight of the melting glaciers that feed it!)
I think May is Winnipesaukee's best month. The lake itself is clear, and has fewer -- and mostly sane and sober -- boaters.
The air is clear -- and has the sweet odor of hemlock trees and pine needles when the sun warms them. Birds are at their best.
The Harley-Davidsons aren't flatulating yet -- that's not until BikeMonth in June. (My New Hampshire-apologies-in-advance for the loud noises -- to those visitors from civilized countries with civilized motorcycle ordinances).
New Hampshire also haven't overbuilt on our beautiful "lakeview" hillsides as Europe has -- particularly Switzerland.
I think you'll like May in New Hampshire -- a lot.

Hi Peter! I don't know how much luggage you are planning on bringing for your trip, but your best bet would be to plan on bringing clothes you can layer! We can have a really warm day and then the temp can drop down low that night, mornings can be cool with afternoons warm, etc. Layers are best! :)
