GSM Coverage in Lakes Region? page 1

Does anyone use GSM service from either AT&T Wireless or Cingular in the Lakes Region? I recently switched from CDMA to GSM (Cingular). The CDMA coverage was great in Tuftonboro, and in the area overall. But the GSM maps show that the coverage is rather blotchy in NH -- the rollout will obviously take time. Just wondering what (if any) cellular coverage I can expect up there this year. Perhaps the proposed AT&T Wireless/Cingular merger will result in some quality GSM coverage on the Lake soon...

I have GSM service with T Mobile ... of course, T Mobile does not cover the lakes region -- however, my phone can search for available service from other providers...

Around Alton, Rattlesnake, etc I cannot get any GSM coverage... Cingular adds no current capability to AT&T in that regard... I think the closes GSM service area is Rochester ... while their maps show it extendeds to the lake -- I have been unable to see it.

My Verizon phone which uses Qualcomm 3g CDMA works great for me..

I get GSM in Meredith and Laconia for my Blackberry. Its through At&T.

Yeah, my CDMA coverage was good in Tuftonboro with both Verizon and Cingular, but I suspect that the GSM rollout will take a while to reach the eastern side of the Lake and points north. The maps provided by each company show a little "tongue" of coverage extending into what appears to be the general area, and that leads me to believe that there is no coverage up there. Heck, at this time last year, there was very spotty GSM coverage down here in SE Pennsylvania, yet now it is very good. So it will take time.
