Study: Owning A Boat Not Worth It
YONKERS, NY—According to a study published in the April issue of Boating Magazine, owning a boat is not even close to worth it. "Our study proved conclusively that boat-ownership is primarily an inconvenience and a monetary black hole," editor Roger Bernbaum said. "We found little to no reason to keep that thing sitting in a shed all winter just so you can tow it to the lake and pay outrageous docking fees three weekends a year. It'd be much more cost-efficient to don a yachting cap and hang out at the dockhouse." The May issue of Boating promises to explore the financial viability of waterfront vacation homes.

Strange article for Boating Magazine to publish. Think this was an April Fools joke?

If it was written in the Onion, I'd believe it. The Onion is a farcical newspaper. The URL is www.theonion.com. Some days are funnier than others. I do not read it everyday but a few of the sw engineers I work with will forward funny stuff on to me every now and again.

They do say that a boat is nothing more than a hole in the water that you throw money in.

Never heard of the Onion before, but after checking it out this morning, and laughing so hard I nearly fell off my chair, I'll be logging onto it every Wednesday to read more hilarious farce. I can't imagine who comes up with the articles, but whoever they are, they've got way too much time on their hands, and are having WAAAAY too much fun at work. Can't imagine getting paid to be that silly, but I'll bet it's great work if you can get it! I strongly encourage anyone who has a wacky sense of humor to log onto the link provided in the post above, and start your day off with a great guffaw. Just too wacky to describe.

What's really funny is that the Onion is frequently quoted as real:
The Onion depends on a smidgeon of Truth to make it funny.
Anyone calculated the cost of a smallmouth bass -- per pound? :o
