70 lb. red and white neutered 6-year old male basset with a pink nose got out at 5 pm on the evening of May 7th. Greeley is a very friendly. I live on Pine River Pond - Lake Winnepauske - nearest town is Ossipee. This is about 2 hours north of Boston or about an hour north of Conway. On the east side of New Hampshire. $500.00 reward for Greeleys return or info leading to his return. Call 603 522-8472 Frank Covie or e-mail runway37prp@msn.com

Best of luck on your friends return. Don't give up hope. We had the miraculous return of our black lab after nearly 3 weeks. Hope this turns out as well!!

I assisted friends looking for a lost dog and put up posters 3 miles from his home.

:look: When he turned up two days later, he was less than ½ mile from home. Good luck, Frank -- I think I met Greeley once in your Subaru wagon?

Basset hounds, with their incredible sense of smell -- maybe he got on the trail of a scent he wanted to follow. anyway, don't give up. keep calling/whistling, etc. so even if he can't see you / his house, etc., he will be able to hear you calling for him.

We have a cat that disappeared March 1 for 53 days, during which time there were snowstorms, rain, etc. He just re-appeared in the driveway one night. We had about given up hope for his return and there he was, like nothing had happened.

Good luck.

My wifes boss belongs to a cat. He stops in every couple of weeks , friendly as can be , mooches a can of tuna , spends the night and disappears again.
She has spotted him in other parts of the neighborhood
Hope your dog wanders home soon :)

No update on Greeley, unfortunately. We're still trying to find him. Will let you know any information as it comes in.

Basset hounds definitely follow their nose. Hopefully, someone has found him and will be helping to try and find his owner. Keep your eyes and ears open for him! Thank you!

SuzFi,
Just wondering...did Greeley have a collar with a name tag and phone #?
My cats don't go out unless on a leash  but never are they with out their ID's. It makes locating the ;) owner so much easier. Keep the faith.

Greeley's owner is Frank Covie, who can be reached at

or

I am a member of a basset hound rescue group that is trying to help the owner. Not sure if he had a collar on or not.

Thanks for your posts!

Did anyone call the Lakes Region Humane Society (569-3549)? Good luck with the search.

I called to confirm whether or not the shelter had taken in any bassets. What was frightening is that the woman who answered the phone didn't know what a basset even looked like!! After repeating the information several times, she turned to ask a co-worker what kind of dog Greeley was - I told her that this was exactly the dog I was calling about. She said there were posters with pictures of him all over the place about him and that they were aware of Greeley being missing.

As I'm sure all of us do, I love dogs (and all animals) very much! I hope that Frank and Greeley are reunited as quickly as possible! :)

With very best wishes to all concerned! Lloyd :)
